Local High School Choir
Selected to Perform in European Music Festival
Granada Hills, California, June 30, 2007- The
Hillcrest Christian High School Concert Choir
has been selected as a representative of the
State of California in a major 2008 international
music festival in Europe. Choir director, Galen
Clark was informed of the selection that was
based upon recommendations and achievements of
the choir.
The Hillcrest Christian High School Concert
Choir will perform in three imperial cities:
Vienna, Salzburg and Munich from March 26-April
4, 2008 in the American Celebration of
Music in Austria and Germany recognized by
the mayors of Vienna, Salzburg and Munich.
Not only will the students perform, they will
also experience the culture with scheduled opportunities
for sightseeing, cultural exchanges, orientation
meetings and other activities. The Hillcrest
Christian High School Concert Choir, which consists
of approximately 65 students, will perform for
enthusiastic Austrian audiences and if time and
scheduling permits, enjoy the performances of
other American groups who are also participating
in the “Music Celebration”.
In an era where budget cuts have adversely affected
performing arts departments state wide, Hillcrest
Christian School students will “experience
Europe in such a way that it touches the very
core of each and every person, bringing a heightened
sense for their Lord, the arts and the people
around them” states Galen Clark, choir
director.
Where other schools have all but eliminated
extra curricular programs, Hillcrest continues
to expand their Performing Arts department to
include drama and advanced drama, award winning
High school and middle school concert choirs,
elementary school choirs and an after school
music academy for all grade levels.
